Choosing the right wedding photographer.

Getting the right photographer for your wedding day is an important decision - your album will be a lasting memory that you'll treasure for years to come. Here are a few points to consider:
 

Is he or she a full time professional photographer?

Are they a qualified member of a professional association? Some such organisations are the Master Photographers Association (MPA), the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP), the British Professional Photographers Association (BPPA), and the Association of Photographers (AoP). Have you seen an example of a recent wedding?

If you can, get to see pictures of one complete wedding, PLUS photos of a selection of others.

 

Do the people in those albums look as though they were having an enjoyable day?

You can tell a lot from peoples expressions as to whether they were enjoying or simply enduring the experience of being photographed!

 

Do you like the style of photography?

Do you want a relaxed or more formal look to your pictures? Are you considering reportage coverage?

 

Does he/she offer the type of album you're looking for?

Both storybook and traditional albums come in many shapes, sizes and styles. Be sure that you're getting exactly what you want.

 

Is the person you met the one that will be photographing your wedding?

If not, can you meet them? Can you see examples of their own work, rather than that of the company?

 

What is included in the price you're being quoted?

Is VAT included? Is the album included? Is the proof album yours to keep?  Travel costs? Does that include an online gallery of photos? How many photographers will be attending?

 

Do you get on with the photographer?

He or she will be with you for several hours on your big day!

 

Does the photographer have professional indemnity insurance?
